Our Story

Ours is a classic story of a (hardly) secret crush, an eventual first date, a secret work romance that lasted hidden for all of two months, five years of a relationship, and now an engagement and a wedding.

But hold up, let’s backtrack. How did this all start?

Let’s take you back to 2017. Kristy was living in New York working as a bartender at this phenomenal restaurant on the Upper West Side called Crave Fishbar. Our sous chef left and they were bringing in “this guy who used to work for us a few years ago” to take over.

In walks Alex Pirani.

And it was all history.

No, just kidding. Actually, both of us were dating other people at the time, and our relationship evolved naturally as two people who thought of each other as really cool coworkers that eventually became really great friends. We would chat after hours while Alex was having his shift drink and Kristy was closing up the bar. We would hang out at work events. It was all very chill.

When we were both single for a bit, Alex finally decided to make his move (with much encouragement from other management staff at Crave). We grabbed drinks at a (sadly now closed) bar after work in the early stages. Our first kiss was on the corner of 79th and Broadway, between a DSW and a Halal Cart (so romantic). Our first official date was a Modest Mouse concert, a double-date with another work couple. Kristy knew exactly one Modest Mouse song.
Who knew that “Float On” would lead to such an amazing relationship?

What started as a Front of House-Back of House stereotype has grown into a relationship full of laughter, good food, amazing cocktails, late nights, early mornings, and lots of love. We adopted a cat into our home, making our own little family of three. And one day short of 5 years since our first date, Alex proposed on a vista at Hawk Mountain after spending all day trying to find a private space to pop the question. And obviously, Kristy said yes.
